Open Line and Conscia: building the future together
The integration of Open Line into the Conscia Group is now a fact. We are extremely excited about the opportunities this collaboration brings and are taking the next steps together to make the most of our combined strengths. We understand that true collaboration revolves around people and short lines of communication. That’s why we warmly invite our customers to meet the key people involved — including the management teams — from both Open Line and Conscia. Would you like to take advantage of this opportunity? Please contact your Account Executive.
Through this newsletter, we will keep you informed about general developments and updates regarding our collaboration. In recent months, we have worked at a strategic level to further shape this new partnership. Together, we form a powerful platform that enables us to accelerate innovation and support our customers even better in achieving their digital ambitions — while strengthening our position in the Dutch IT market.
We are currently working on aligning our Product and Services Portfolios, so that we can soon offer you an even broader, stronger, and more innovative range of solutions. We are also exploring ways to accelerate our project approach and ongoing projects by leveraging Conscia’s expertise and capabilities. In addition, we are reviewing both our security portfolios — in breadth and depth — to enrich and expand our services.
Furthermore, we are exploring how the Conscia Digital Employee Experience (DEX) can connect with our own Modern Workplace solution. This approach maps out employees’ digital experiences by continuously providing insight into the performance of systems, applications, and devices. This allows for proactive optimization, prevention of disruptions, and ensures that employees can always work smoothly and securely — wherever they are.
Would you like more information about this collaboration, or are you interested in learning more about one of the topics mentioned? Please inform your Account Executive, who will be happy to guide you further.
Windows Server 2016 End of Support
The end of Extended Support for Windows Server 2016 is approaching: Microsoft will officially end this support on January 12, 2027. That may seem far away, but in reality, the time to act is limited — and before you know it, you could lose access to critical security updates for part of your server environment.
Upgrading requires solid preparation: we need to inventory which of your servers are still running Windows Server 2016, determine the best upgrade path, request or reserve budget, and carefully plan the execution. This process takes time and coordination, especially if it turns out that a particular server cannot be upgraded. In such cases, alternative scenarios must be explored — and it may even be necessary to initiate a migration process.
By taking the first steps now, you can prevent time pressure later and ensure your infrastructure remains secure, stable, and future-ready — even after January 12, 2027.
Our team will be happy to work with you to determine the best approach for your organization. Do you have any questions, or would you like to know what this means for your environment? Please contact your Account Executive. Together, we’ll make sure your transition is smooth and worry-free.
Prepare Your Organization Today!
Microsoft 365 Apps No Longer Supported on Windows Server 2016 & 2019
As previously shared, Microsoft has announced that Microsoft 365 Apps (Office applications via Microsoft 365) will no longer be supported on Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019 starting October 2025.
What Does This Mean?
After October 2025: Microsoft will no longer release new features — only security updates until October 2028. Organizations that continue using Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows Server 2016 or 2019 after 2025 risk compatibility issues, reduced functionality, and compliance challenges.
Why Is This Important?
Many organizations use Windows Server as a Citrix / Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment for running Microsoft 365 Apps. After October 2025, this configuration will no longer be supported, which could have serious implications for both security and workplace continuity.
What Can You Do?
- Consider migrating to a newer server environment (for example, Windows Server 2022 or Windows Server 2025).
- Evaluate whether moving to Microsoft 365 cloud-based solutions would better suit your organization’s needs.
- Discuss with Open Line which migration strategy best fits your situation.
Update Your Environment
Microsoft Ends Support for Exchange Server 2019
Microsoft has also announced that support for Exchange Server 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. This means there will be no further regular security updates, bug fixes, or technical support available.
Impact on Your Organization
Using an unsupported Exchange environment brings significant risks, including:
- Security vulnerabilities that will no longer be patched.
- Compliance and audit issues due to outdated software.
- Compatibility limitations with other Microsoft products and services.
Recommended Next Steps
Open Line advises taking one of the following actions:
- Migrate to Exchange Online (Microsoft 365) for a future-proof cloud solution.
- Move to a newer on-premises Exchange environment (e.g. Exchange vNext).
We are happy to help you assess the impact, risks, and time required to plan and execute a careful migration.
Microsoft CSP Services
Collaboration with Arrow for Microsoft Licensing
We would like to inform you about an important change within our Microsoft CSP (Cloud Solution Provider) services. Open Line is entering into a partnership with licensing specialist Arrow to serve you even better when it comes to advising on and providing Microsoft licenses.
What Does This Mean for You?
Our collaboration with Arrow offers several benefits for you as a customer:
- Broader opportunities – Access to a wider range of Microsoft products and services, as well as additional cloud solutions.
- Enhanced support & expertise – Arrow provides us with additional partner resources and expertise, enabling us to advise and support you even more effectively.
- Optimal price-performance ratio – Thanks to economies of scale and greater automation, we can continue to procure efficiently and offer competitive pricing. The transition will have no direct impact on your license costs (subject to Microsoft price changes).
In the future, we will explore ways to offer you more flexibility and insight through the unique Arrow customer portal. This portal will allow you to view your usage via intuitive dashboards and order Microsoft licenses yourself based on the conditions agreed upon with us.
What Do You Need to Do?
To ensure a smooth transition, we will be making an administrative change in both the Microsoft Partner Center and your tenant. In short, this means that we will establish a GDAP relationship for your environment.
This has no impact on your existing services and no negative financial consequences. We also expect no administrative impact. Should any action be required on your part, we will inform you in advance and guide you step by step through the process.
Timeline and Communication
The transition will take place over the coming months and will be discussed with you individually. We will ensure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes and will keep you informed of any relevant updates.
If you are listed as a Microsoft contact for your tenant, you may receive emails related to this migration. These messages are for information purposes only — no action is required on your part.
Important Microsoft 365 Licensing Changes Effective November 2025
Microsoft has announced several upcoming changes to the Microsoft 365 portfolio
Starting November 1, 2025, the Enterprise suites including Teams will once again be available as bundled offerings. These had previously been separated due to competition concerns regarding Microsoft’s market position.
For you as a customer, this means that you can continue using your current Microsoft subscriptions with Teams, and you won’t need to worry about losing access to Teams licenses or paying additional costs due to future changes.
New Names for Microsoft 365 E5 Mini-Suites
Starting October 1, 2025, Microsoft will rename the existing Microsoft 365 E5 mini-suites as follows:
- Microsoft 365 E5 Security → Microsoft Defender Suite
- Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance → Microsoft Purview Suite
The Defender Suite offers an integrated package of security solutions, including Entra ID P2, Defender for Identity, Defender for Office P2, Defender for Endpoint P2, and Defender for Cloud Apps.
The Purview Suite focuses on data classification, insider risk management, protection of Copilot data, and compliance with regulations, including the EU AI Act.
With these name changes, Microsoft underscores the deeper integration of its security and compliance portfolios
The First Results Speak for Themselves!
Optimize the Digital User Experience (DEX) with Kanari
A smooth digital work experience is essential today. When systems do not function optimally, it leads to frustration, productivity loss, and even higher employee turnover — especially among younger generations who have high expectations of digital tools.
Kanari, part of the Conscia Group, helps organizations enhance their Digital Employee Experience (DEX). This service perfectly complements the Open Line Modern Workplace. As mentioned earlier in this newsletter, Open Line is exploring how Kanari’s services can be added to our portfolio.
The improvement of DEX follows a proven, strategic approach built around three phases:
- Team – The insight of a multidisciplinary DEX team that breaks down silos and drives digital experience improvements across the organization.
- Insight – Objective identification of bottlenecks using data, supplemented by employee feedback and sentiment analysis.
- Action – Implementation of quick wins that deliver tangible improvements for both employees and IT support.
Early customer results are promising: fewer IT issues, shorter resolution times, and higher employee satisfaction. However, DEX is not a one-time project, but a continuous process. By consistently measuring, improving, and collaborating, the digital work experience remains aligned with what employees need to perform at their best.
If you are interested, we would be happy to discuss how — even in advance of full integration into the Open Line portfolio — we can support your organization in optimizing its Digital Employee Experience.
